Inflight for 2,000 years,
a U.S. space ship (aloft 18 months by their internal calendar), has been traveling at close to the speed of light far out in the
universe.
The
ship lands in a lake on a planet bearing little resemblance to earth. Taylor, Landon and Dodge are
forced to abandon their sinking ship.
Their
freedom is short-lived for they are captured by uniformed gorillas on
horseback.
After Dr. Zaius orders him gelded, Taylor
escapes but he is quickly recaptured.
Taylor
goes before the Ape Council and learns the fates of Landon and Dodge.
Zaius
and his militiamen pursue them into the Forbidden Zone. Taylor takes Zaius hostage and the gorillas are
ordered to retreat.
Taylor asks Zira if he can kiss her. "But you are so ugly," replies Zira.
The
shocking conclusion of "Planet of the Apes" will not be revealed in any
timeline.
