The ship lands in a lake on a planet bearing little resemblance to earth. Taylor, Landon and Dodge are forced to abandon their sinking ship.

Their freedom is short-lived for they are captured by uniformed gorillas on horseback.

After Dr. Zaius orders him gelded, Taylor escapes but he is quickly recaptured.

Taylor goes before the Ape Council and learns the fates of Landon and Dodge.
